Santander Foundation

In 2016, The Santander Foundation has become The Discovery Foundation to reflect its important role in Santander UK's new flagship community programme called The Discovery Project.

The aim of The Discovery Project is to help people have the confidence to make the most of their future. In this fast-paced world we know some find it hard to navigate the change and we want to help everyone have equal access to the best society has to offer.

The Discovery Foundation will provide grants to support knowledge, skills and innovation to give disadvantaged people the confidence to discover and create a new world of opportunities. The Foundation's previous three grants schemes have been combined into a single new scheme called Discovery Grants making it simpler to apply for funding.

Discovery Grants of up to £5,000 are available to UK Registered Charities, Community Interest Companies and Credit Unions to fund local projects helping disadvantaged people. Read more on the Discovery Grants page.

Discovery Grants of up to £5,000 are available to fund an activity which supports one or more of our three priority themes:

Explorer - improving knowledge and insight

Transformer - developing skills and experience

Changemaker - innovative solutions to social challenges

Grants must directly benefit disadvantaged people in the UK and must be for something that is wholly charitable. Funding is available to cover part time salaries, equipment or materials but is for one year and must deliver a local project, not a national initiative. We aim to fund a complete item rather than simply make a contribution to an appeal.

Please note, we only need the information on the form, please do not send supporting material or annual reports. This is not a voting system so only one nomination is required.

Deadline:There are no closing dates and grants are made every month.

Application Form:Complete a Discovery Grant nomination form which is available in all Santander branches and drop it into the nomination box in the branch. Please do not send it to The Discovery Foundation address. If you do not have a Santander branch near you, you can email a nomination form to us but please indicate where your nearest branch would be.
